Swimming and Water Activities

Updated 6 months ago by Zena

One thing that we get questioned on often is whether or not extensions can be worn during activities that involve water, such as swimming or showering. Ready to wear extensions such as ponytails or clip-ins can be removed before swimming and should be removed before showering as they do not need to be washed on a regular basis if they are not worn daily. Tape in extensions and weft extensions can be worn while showering, we just recommend that conditioners or oil are not applied at the root in order to prevent slippage. Please note that if your water is hard or has chemicals it can possibly affect your extensions. Swimming is a bit different and additional precautions should be taken. when swimming at a beach or a pool we recommend putting up your extensions in a bun and keeping them away from the water. Also recommend wearing a swimming cap and using a protective product in your hair. Unfortunately it is difficult to know exactly what kind of minerals are chemicals are in the water that you are swimming with and how they can affect the color of your extensions and the adhesive or thread of your tape in or weft bundle extensions.
